10 serves in a row
Service consistency drill. Player must be able to make 10 consecutive serves go into the correct service box. No errors.
live ball forehand volley, backhand volley, overhead.
Forecourt consistency drill. Player must be able to control forehand volley, backhand volley, overhead for 30 balls in total with no errors.
8 ball 'step in' drill
Place a cone approximately 1.5mts either side of centre T at the baseline, and a marker directly in front of that. Have the player step across towards the cone and then in towards the marker to drive aggressively up the court. Use 2x forehand and 2 x backhand for 8 balls. Good for developing pressing shots.
9 ball drill with footwork.
ball groundstroke drill using specific footwork. Player starts on centre T and firs ball is hand fed slightly to the backhand side. Player moves around the ball to hit a forehand using a reverse step to open the body. 2nd ball is fed to the forehand side and player moves across to drive the ball down the line, recovering with a right foot cross step to set off towards the backhand shot down the line. The player then uses a left foot cross step to recover before making a split step and repeating the routine for 9 balls.
8 ball 'V' volley drill
Player starts behind a central cone halfway back in the service box.2 more cones are placed roughly 2 metres wider from there and 1 metre in front. Player moves in front of forehand cone and makes the volley , recovering behind that cone and the centre cone, then moving in front of the backhand cone to make the volley. Repeat for 8 balls. Good for footwork and confidence on the volley, and encouraging the player to move forward to the ball.
15 forehands to the volley - 1 ball
Coach takes position around the service line of the forehand service box, and feeds the ball. Player hits forehands from the back court to make the coach volley 15 balls in a row using 1 ball. Excellent for ball control and consistency.
15 backhands to the volley, 1 ball
Coach takes position around the service line of the backhand service box, and feed the ball. Player hits backhands from the backcourt to make the coach volley 15 balls in a row, using 1 ball. Excellent for ball control and consistency.
7/10 service accuracy
Divide the service boxes in half lengthways. Player gets 10 serves to each half and must make a minimum of 7/10 accurately to all 4 sections.
