these levels are suitable for yellow balls
Forehand box drill
Make a box approximately 2 metres square in the back forehand corner. Coach starts the rally from behind the box and retains position. The player has 3 live ball rallies to hit the box 20 times.
Make a triangle from the centre T at the service line back towards the baseline, leaving room outside for the shots to land.Have the player try to switch the ball from side to side 10 times in the rally without putting the ball in the central zone. Excellent ball control drill to learn hoe to keep your opponent on the run.
Spanish X drill
4 cones, 2 deep behind the baseline corners, 2 on the service line corners. This is primarily a defensive drill, where the coach feeds deep to the forehand corner and the player returns high with topspin crosscourt. Then recovers to the centre t and chases down the ball to the short forehand cone and plays topspin. Repeat using slice defensive forehands, and repeat to the back hand side. Run in sets of 8 balls.
6 forehand drill live
Live rally ball control drill where the coach rally feeds for behind the forehand corner, the player makes 2 x forehand crosscourts. The coach moves to the backhand corner makes the player rally 2 inside out forehands up the line. Staying in the backhand corner the coach then rallies for 2 forehands down the line. Repeat the drill and keep the ball alive as long as possible.
Argentinian Tech-Tac drill
A basket fed, 6 ball forehand drill. Player needs to demonstrate 6 different types of forehand for various situations. 1) central baseline forehand drive 2) wide baseline forehand 3) deep wide forehand behind the baseline, all 3 to deep forehand corner to yellow box.
4) inside-out forehand to backhand corner blue box. 5) short angle forehand to white markers 6) short ball kill to blue box.
